MUKTI “FREEDOM” MARKET PLACE PROGRAM
Program Summary
In order to create economic and educational opportunities for the victims of human trafficking in Kolkata and Chennai, JVI is advising and assisting justice ventures in expanding their businesses that employ such victims. These justice ventures are Freeset Bags, Sari Bari (through Word Made Flesh), and Madras Christian Counsel of Social Services.
JVI is providing professional services in the form of legal advice, business planning and marketing assistance. In addition, JVI is mobilizing grants and equity, as well as below-market loans, for use as capital by these businesses in their expansion. Finally, JVI is identifying and documenting best practices in using business-oriented strategies to restore victims of human trafficking.
The project is expected to provide economic and educational opportunities for women and children freed from forced prostitution, especially in Kolkata's red-light districts.
