A Concert for Justice in Chennai, India
April 2008
Chennai Transformation Network (CTN), a JVI client working in India's fourth largest city, recently collaborated with the Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief to produce the "Justice Concert and Exposition."

The purpose of the Justice Concert was to raise awareness on issues of injustice and to inspire individuals to take up the work of justice on behalf of pavement and slum dwellers, victims of human trafficking and HIV/AIDS, children at-risk and other marginalized poor. The concert featured bands from various musical traditions including rock, pop, rap, worship and Carnatic in both English and Tamil.

The event also included a pre-concert exposition with stalls from leading justice ventures highlighting opportunities for volunteer service. According to Jeyakaran Emmanuel, one of CTN's leaders, "the underlying concern and objective for us is to get the city excited and involved in justice issues by using music as a channel to bring people together. Our desire is to see a Chennai that is transformed and beautiful not just for a few but for all citizens.

CTN's Justice Resource Center is following up with the hundreds of individuals that attended and responded to the call to promote justice in Chennai.

Below is a video presentation that was given at the concert.
